May birthday card

Hello everyone and hello to May! Erica on the blog today with a birthday card, which seems rather appropriate as it May is my birthday month. I absolutely love birthdays and celebrations, not just my own as I think it's a great reason to make someone feel extra special and treasured. The age doesn't really matter. Just take me, I will be 25 on the 11th, for something like the 13th time... details, details. I'm not into the whole 'ageing gracefully' thing, nope. Not me. Noooooo, Siree! But birthday cake? Oh, count me in!

Right, all this talk of ageing is giving me wrinkles and grey hairs so let's get to the card instead.

I have a penchant for flowers so it should not come to any surprise I decided to use the lovely Just A Rose  and my beloved Zig markers for this card. I wanted a bit of a frame for my sentiment so I stamped the flower slightly off frame in three places, with a little bit of help of a mask, in black ink and then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.

As usual, I forgot to write down my Zig colour choices but I went with a bit of a vintage colour scheme. I will try, keyword T-R-Y, to remember in the future. Using my trusted Prima Marketing water colour brush to dilute the colours to create highlights and blend them out a little bit. I added a bit of yellow in the middle, on the stamens, and blended that out into the inner petals. One of my favourite roses has a peachy coloured middle and I was trying to channel that for this card. The leaves I coloured very loosely using just one Zig marker and the water colour brush.

When it came time to add sentiments and embellishments I did some ombré ink blending with a pink Distress Ink and cut the word 'Happy' out using a die from Mama Elephant. I also cut out the same one in black which I layered to create a shadow behind the ombré one. Using the die cut word as a guide I stamped the word 'Birthday' from the sentiments available in the Beautiful Bloom-Sweet Rose  on the bottom right corner of the card. I have previously cut this sentiment 'Happy Birthday' in half so I didn't need to mask it off this time. If you prefer not to cut your stamps, use a bit of masking tape or a scrap piece of paper to cover up the bit you don't want stamped.

I picked out a few... ok, more than a few, seven to be precise, sequins from the Moonbeams fusion and adhered them with Multi Medium Matte glue from Ranger Ink. I usually use Glossy Accents but out of my two bottles, one is nearly empty and difficult to get anything out of and the other one I added the Fine Tip Applicator to which now is all clogged up. The Multi Medium Matte works just as well actually but I do prefer the dried look of the Glossy Accents.

Well, that's it from me for today and next time I check in, I will have turned 25 again!

Happy crafting and happy early birthday to me!!

One Layered Card - Featuring Kennedy Grace Creations: Time To Blossom

Hey folks! I'm back to share a card from the Kennedy Grace Creations New Release! The stamp set I used today is the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . I really enjoyed the simplicity of this set. You could totally heat emboss this and do some fabulous watercoloring, but Copic's seems to be the way to go for me lately so that's what I did. I started by stamping the image twice on my card panel. The only masking I did was a tiny bit on the stem. The name of the game was to keep this super simple folks. As I said, I colored the images with Copic's. Another thing I enjoy about the Time To Blossom Stamp Set is that you could choose any colors you wanted. I chose red-violets and yellow-greens, but seriously peeps, whatever floats your boat and it will looks great! To finish off my card, I used a added a couple of hand drawn lines to the background and I stamped a portion of a stamp that is also in the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . That's it! Easy peasy. T
